CAPF exam is the most premium and only UPSC examinaions which give you a direct entry into all the Central Armed Police Forces like, BSF, CISF, CRPF, ITBP and SSB as officers at the Assstant Commandant level. Therefore, this exam is very much at par with the CDS and AFCAT examinations as far as uniformed forces are concerned and gives the student one of the best career options after graduation. The life and challenge in the Para Military forces is quite similar to the Armed Forces and therefore the respect one gets is also equivalent. Moreover the syllabus is also almost similar to the CDS exam and the difficulty levels are lesser. Therefore, a student who is attempting CDS exam with a dream of going n the Armed forces can easily appear for the CAPF exam concurrently sice they are generally staggered one ater another, CAPF exam one month before the CDS exam and the respect, challenge and renumerations also the same. CAPF (Assistant Commandant) exam is held once a year in the month of May. There are two papers i.e. General Knowledge and English. Paper-I comprises of Reasoning, General Science, History, Geography, Current Affairs and Indian Polity. Paper- II of English comprises of Essay Writing, Precis Writing, for & Against Arguments and Comprehension. Paper – II is checked only if students pass paper – I. How To Prepare For CAPF? The objective type questions with multiple choices in this paper will broadly cover the following areas:
The questions will be designed to test the logical reasoning, quantitative aptitude including numerical ability, and data interpretation.
The questions will be set to test general awareness, scientific temper, comprehension, and appreciation of scientific phenomena of everyday observation including new areas of importance like Information Technology, Biotechnology, Environmental Science.
The questions will test the candidates’ awareness of current events of national and international importance in the broad areas of culture, music, arts, literature, sports, governance, societal and developmental issues, industry, business, globalization, and interplay among nations.
The questions shall aim to test candidates’ knowledge of the Country’s political system and the Constitution of India, social systems and public administration, economic development in India, regional and international security issues and human rights including its indicators.
The questions will broadly cover the subject in its social, economic and political aspects. This shall also include the areas of growth of nationalism and freedom movement.
The questions shall cover the physical, social and economic aspects of geography pertaining to India and the World.
Part-A - - Essay questions which are to be answered in a long narrative form either in Hindi or English totaling 80 Marks. The indicative topics are modern Indian history especially of the freedom struggle, geography, polity and economy, knowledge of security and human rights issues, and analytical ability. Part-B - Comprehension, précis writing, other communications/language skills to be attempted in English only (Marks 120) - The topics are Comprehension passages, précis writing, developing counter arguments, simple grammar and other aspects of language testing.

There are two papers 1- genral ablity and intelligence , time duration 120 mimitus with 1/3 negative marking , 2- Genral studies,essay and comprehemsion time duration 180 minitus with 1/3 negative marking.

A person having foreign citizenship cannot apply for CAPF but If He/She has Indian passport and documents supporting his/her claim of Indian citizenship then they can apply for CAPF.
CAPF Exam is difficult but it depends upon the preparation according to which the difficulty level varies from easy to very tough.
